Michael Niavaranis “Theater im Park”, born at short notice in the previous year out of the Corona emergency, will continue in the second pandemic year. The open-air festival with stars from the cabaret, classical and theater scene is to take place from May, and there is obviously little doubt that it will come about: for the appearances of stars such as Lukas Resetarits, The hectic, Birgit Minichmayr, Gerhard Polt, Lisa Eckhart and Karl Markovics 50,000 tickets have already been sold in the Schwarzenberggarten near the Belvedere.
Of course, Niavarani’s success in the fresh air has sparked competition. So now Viktor Gernot has his “Prater stage” founded, which is located between the Prater Hauptallee and the beer gardens “Luftburg” and “Schweizerhaus”. From June 1st, cabaret artists such as Thomas Stipsits, Barbara Balldini, Manuel Rubey as well as the already mentioned hectic and Lukas Resetaris will perform there.
A new classic podium is being created on the green area of the former Semmelweis Clinic in Währing: from July 3, they will be there under the name Amadeus Festival Vienna On eight days, among other things, to experience opera mezzo Angelika Kirchschlager, the Janoska Ensemble, the musical comedians Igudesman & Yo and the violinist Yury Revich.
Comeback for cultural summer
Also the one founded in the previous year “Cultural summer” of the municipality of Vienna will take place again from July, and again with free admission. The concept remains the same: musicians, dance performers, writers, poets, cabaret artists and artists are to perform in front of a limited audience due to the corona at various locations in the city; the collaboration with the ImPulsTanz Festival will also be continued. After the 25 venues in the previous year, 40 locations are to be used this year, Mayor Michael Ludwig announced.
