LUMC: more corona infections due to pollen in the air | Inland

The LUMC reports that complaints of hay fever are often confused with the complaints of covid-19.

LEIDEN – Worldwide research shows that the number of corona infections increases when the number of pollen in the air increases. The corona virus may benefit from a weakened immune system due to pollen exposure. This is not only the case with hay fever patients, but also for people who are not allergic. This is reported by the Leiden University Medical Center, which is involved in the research. This international study is at odds with the findings of researchers who came out earlier with the report that pollen is actually beneficial because it activates the immune system in humans, including against the corona virus.
