Today we celebrate women badass video games that have marked our lives as gamers. They have complex stories, thrilling adventures and even if they are virtual, they still inspire us enormously!

Jade is the heroine of Beyond Good & Evil and a fearless reporter who had a difficult childhood, marked by war. In addition to watching over orphans, she kicks butt and helps end clashes on the planet Hillys.

Already the narrative is interesting (it is the warrior’s turn to literally venture into hell to rescue her lover’s soul), the metaphor behind the game is also interesting.
In addition to battling the forces of hell, Senua also has to deal with her own trials of sanity. A complex character, therefore, and who — at the risk of repeating himself — dares to fight hell!
Elissa Steamer (several editions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater)
Yes, Elissa Steamer is a real-life professional skateboarder in the flesh, BUT, several players have learned of her existence, even the existence of pro skateboarders, by playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Thanks Elissa!
The Boss (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)

Fearsome soldier, The Boss is the antagonist of Snake Eater and, above all, his most memorable character.
In addition to his tragic journey, what we remember about the Boss is the complexity of the character, as well as the impression it leaves on our hero, or even on fans of the saga. Metal Gear.
Celes Chere (Final Fantasy VI)

Well that the saga Final Fantasy has several remarkable heroines, Celes stands out from the crowd with her storytelling worthy of a novel.
First general of the army of the Empire, it will finally join the resistance. On the personality side, Celes is the very definition of independence. A character as proud as he is strong, then!
Kerrigan (StarCraft)

Ah! Kerrigan! Talking about it still grips the hearts of fans of StarCraft.
First an incredibly skilled elite soldier, Kerrigan switches to the enemy’s side after a mission goes awry and then becomes a particularly tough antagonist.
A complex character, then, but who breaks jaws … on both sides of the trench!
Princess Peach (Super Mario)

Peach knocks out his opponents with a frying pan in games Smash. It says a lot with so little, and we love it.
Ellie (The Last Of Us)

The universe of Last of Us includes several strong and dedicated women who survive in circumstances completely impossible to imagine. It all started with Ellie, a funny young teenager and a lot more courageous than us.
She made us shed a few tears and laughter in the first game in the series, but, in The Last of Us II, we followed his quest for revenge to the end. It hasn’t always been easy, and the adventure is sometimes merciless towards the player, but we will never forget the story of Ellie.
Chun-Li (the games Street Fighter)
Note the complexity of the character who can be as stoic during a fight as a child when she celebrates a victory. Chun-Li does what she wants.
Sadie Adler (Red Dead Redemption II)

We don’t want to give too much detail about Sadie Adler’s story in Red Dead Redemption II because it is downright fascinating. Let’s just say that Sadie has had to adapt to totally cruel circumstances in life and turns into a real heroine. We would love a game where she plays the main character!
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Curious, courageous, passionate, independent. Lara Croft was one of the first gaming heroines to reach the general public, hence the three films focusing on her. We were very happy with the reboot from the Tomb Raider series and we can’t wait to see what comes next for this franchise.
Zelda (The Legend of Zelda)

It must be said that the character of Zelda has evolved a lot over the years. From princess to save to warrior, magician, even ninja and pirate (her alter ego Sheik attests), Zelda has played various complex roles throughout the saga.
Also to note: the series of games is named after him. You have to do it anyway!
Samus Aran (Metroid)

The space bounty hunter is legendary. As early as 1986, Samus Aran was helping to break the cliché that a female video game character is only good to be saved.
Decades later, the warrior – also known for her orange armor rather than revealing outfits – is now a figurehead in the Nintendo universe.
Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)

–
Jill Valentine one of the most famous protagonists in the world of video games. A cold-blooded bomb expert, Jill could certainly help us survive the zombie apocalypse.
Bayonetta

What Bayonetta exudes the most is confidence. She is proud of her strength, of her sexuality and she knows how to take her place. And the Bayonetta games are just plain good!
Its designer, Mari Shimazaki, also worked on the franchise. SoulCalibur.
Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn)

2021 announces the return of Aloy, the protagonist and machine hunter of Horizon Zero Dawn, in a brand new game for the PS4 and PS5 consoles. Aloy is a bit of a mystery, independent and talented. Guerrilla Games has managed to create a new successful franchise and that’s in part thanks to Aloy’s excellent story.
Obviously, there are plenty of other amazing women in the world of video games. Tracer, Yennefer, Clementine, Commander Shepard, Tifa, Sonya Blade and more. We can’t wait to meet other heroines in the games planned for the next few years!
