MYITKYINA, KOMPAS.com – nanny Ann Roza Nu Tawng returned to his knees to protect the demonstrators from the Myanmar apparatus, moments before they were shot.
The nun came to attention after pleading tearfully for police and military not to fire on protesters.
The incident, which took place in the city of Myitkyina on February 28, has been dubbed the “Tiananmen Moment in Myanmar”.

Dressed in a white robe and dark veil, Sister Ann Roza Nu Tawng returned to her knees on Monday morning local time (8/3/2021).
In the released pictures Myitkyina News Journal, Sister Ann knelt near the cathedral, with the other senior nuns looking at her.

To Sky News, he said he only wanted Myanmar officials not to beat, torture and detain demonstrators.
“Because these protesters did nothing bad, they just shouted slogans,” he said.
Just then, one of the policemen replied to ask Sister Ann to stay away, because they had to do their job.
“I said ‘no. If you want to do it, then you have to pass me first’,” he said.

The authorities responded that they had to clear the barricades covering the road. Not long after, the demonstrators returned.
Sister Ann said that at around 12.00 the security forces came back and prepared to take action against the action.
Again the 45-year-old nun begged, this time she knelt down and asked them not to torture the crowd.
“The police also complained, and answered that they could only do that in order to disperse the protest,” he explained.
After the plea, he heard gunfire and saw tear gas already on the street.
Sister Ann said she felt dizzy and had difficulty breathing when she saw a man lying on the street, it seems shot.

Editor Myitkyina News Journal explained that at lunchtime, he got the news that two people had died.
Kachin Waves then released a heartbreaking photo, showing Sister Ann standing on the curb, with someone lying on the tarmac.
In another heart-wrenching photo, she is seen crying as she leaned against the body of the man who was shot in the head.
Sister Ann Roza said because of the tear gas, she didn’t know who had shot the protesters.
However, he said that it was not the officers who had been on their knees and begged him to carry out the shooting.

“I really do. The police have told me they are not going to shoot. However, they do,” he lamented.
He said the person who was shot in the head was breathing, so he was taken to a clinic for treatment before he died.
A week earlier, he admitted that he was ready to die in order to protect protesters who only voiced aspirations.
Since the military coup carried out on February 1, 56 people have been killed and 1,790 detained.
