Since Monday everyone should be able to have a quick test tested for the corona virus once a week free of charge. But there can be no talk of a comprehensive test start.

Free corona rapid tests for everyone, once a week and possible in many places – that was the plan. This is how it should have been since Monday (March 8th). The unanimous opinion in the state parliament at the end of February is that the tests are an important part of fighting pandemic. But there is a problem in Schleswig-Holstein. The feedback from most circles says that the specific guidelines from the state were missing. How are the rapid tests obtained and transported? How are the costs covered? “As long as we don’t have the appropriate templates, we can’t start planning anything,” says the spokeswoman for the Steinburg district, Sonja Wilke. Your colleague from the Stormarn district, Michael Drenckhahn, confirms this point of view.

More capacities at doctors and pharmacists?

To get a first impression of whether there are enough staff for test centers or mobile vaccination teams, the Segeberg, North Friesland and Duchy of Lauenburg districts are currently asking. Doctors and pharmacists who already offer free tests for teachers and daycare staff are addressed primarily. You will be asked for further capacities. NDR Schleswig-Holstein was rather reluctant to take samples.

If the capacities are not available, third-party providers must be sought for the support of the test centers. Until then, the Segeberg district, for example, will refer to the websites of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the pharmacists in the country. Contact points for free tests could be found there.

Kiel: Six stations for free corona tests

In the state capital, on the other hand, a completely different picture emerges. Since Monday, stations for free tests have been available at six locations in Kiel. Occasionally, longer lines could be seen in front of the stations on the first day. Most of them are open until 6 p.m. The city pays for the tests in advance and then bills them to the federal government. Everyone who lives in Kiel can get a quick test there without an appointment. The city wants to make it dependent on the rush in Kiel whether more such test centers will be opened in the coming weeks, said Mayor Ulf Kämpfer (SPD).

High incidence: tests in Flensburg and the surrounding area

In Flensburg, too, the free tests continued as before due to the high incidence, according to the city. Another mobile test station was put into operation on Monday in Schafflund in the Schleswig-Flensburg district.

Realistic start expected for the beginning of April

The fact that every citizen in Schleswig-Holstein can be tested free of charge once a week will not be possible nationwide until the beginning of April, according to the assessment of many circles. The chargeable offers and also the test dates by the health authorities, which are assigned because of the first contact or symptoms that occur, remain in place.
