Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan – Get support:

NEW YORK (Dagbladet): The explosive interview with Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) has created shock waves on both sides of the Atlantic.

This was the first major interview since they resigned from their royal duties.

In the interview, the couple tells, among other things, about the massive pressure they felt from British tabloids, about what they experienced as racism within the royal family and how Meghan struggled with severe depression and suicidal thoughts. In the wake of this, the reactions have been strong.

According to British media, Queen Elizabeth has been in crisis meetings throughout Monday to find out how the British royal family will respond to the violent attack.

Now Harry and Meghan are getting support from former US first lady and presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.

– It was so heartbreaking to see, Clinton says during an interview with Washington Post on Women’s Day.

She says that she has met Harry and Meghan and also Harry’s deceased mother, Princess Diana.

“Meghan was not completely embraced – not only by the bureaucracy around the royal family, but by the media in Britain,” Clinton said.

– Evil

She also describes how she herself has experienced British tabloids.

– You know I have had my round with British tabloids as everyone in the public has had. Their wickedness when they went after Meghan was outrageous. That she did not get more support, but that the reaction was: “Let’s just cover this up and pretend it’s not happening, or it will disappear if you just bend your head.” But this young woman would not go with a bowed head. It’s 2021, and she wanted to live her life. She wanted to be engaged. And she has every right to want it, says Clinton.

Several British media have launched new harsh attacks on Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan after the interview was broadcast. Clinton is critical of the fact that the British royal family did not give more support to the young couple.

“Every institution must provide more space and acceptance for young people – especially young women, who should not be forced into a form that is no longer relevant,” Clinton said, adding:

– Lives in the past

– It was heartbreaking to see the two sitting there and describe how difficult it was to be accepted and integrated, not only in the royal family, but more painfully into the larger society where the narrative is driven by tabloids living in the past. I just hope it will lead to a serious reassessment in all the institutions – not just as a response to what Meghan and Harry were talking about, but throughout society.

She also believes this is about making established institutions more open to diversity.

– Why do we make it so difficult to incorporate diversity, to celebrate it, and to be proud of it? Not only do they stand up for themselves and their children, but they are really trying to send a message about what the institutions, including the one they are part of, need to do to become more dynamic and forward-looking than they are now, Clinton says.
