At a nursing ward of the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), several employees and a few patients have become infected with the corona virus. Eight employees and three patients have tested positive, a spokeswoman for the hospital told media partner Broadcaster West know.

People who have run a risk of infection will be ‘tested as soon as possible’, reports the LUMC. Due to the situation, the treatment of ‘a small number of patients’ has been postponed as a precaution. This concerns the department for ear, nose and throat surgery, oral and facial surgery, ophthalmology, skin diseases and gynecology.

“This situation will last until it is clear how this contamination took place and it is certain that patients and employees are no longer at risk,” said the hospital. The Infection Prevention Unit of the LUMC is investigating the spread of the virus.
