Export all the data from your Instagram account

Instagram is one of the most popular social networks in the world. The US platform, owned by Facebook Inc, was born as a photographic and video tool, but over the years it has expanded its functions. Currently, there are around 1.2 billion active Instagram accounts around the world.

That same popularity forces developers to create new and more useful features that optimize the user experience on the platform. In that framework, allows you to save all the data of your bill, such as published contacts and photos.

To export all the data from your Instagram account, you can do it from the desktop version or from the app installed on your mobile device:

Desktop version of Instagram

  • I opened www.instagram.com
  • Log into your Instagram profile.
  • Click on the icon located in the upper right corner (usually your Instagram profile photo).
  • Go to Settings.
  • Enter Privacy and Security.
  • In that option you will find “Data Download” and it shows you the button that says “Request Download”.

  • It will ask you for an email address where Instagram will notify you when the backup is ready.
  • The Instagram backup takes a maximum of two days to be ready.
  • When the email arrives, it will ask you for a username and password to download the Instagram data.
  • You will have them available in a ZIP file.

Mobile version of Instagram

  • I opened the Instagram app on your cell.
  • Open the options menu and go to Settings.
  • Look where it says Security.
  • It will show you an option called Data Download.
  • It will ask you for an email address.
  • It can also take up to two days.

It should be noted that this backup contains your contacts, messages, photos and videos published, as well as your Instagram stories.
