LENGKONG, AYOBANDUNG.COM – The World Health Organization (WHO) states that women still face many health problems. In this regard, WHO states that there are several diseases in which the majority of women attack and must be fully considered.
Launching from the official WHO website, here are five main problems for women’s health, including:
1. Cancer
The two most common cancers affecting women are breast and cervical cancer. Detecting these two cancers early is key to keeping women alive and well.
The latest global figures show that about half a million women die from cervical cancer and half a million from breast cancer each year. Most of the deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries where screening, prevention and treatment are barely adequate.
2. Reproductive Health
Sexual and reproductive health problems are responsible for one third of women’s health problems aged between 15 and 44 years. Unsafe sex is a major risk factor, especially among women and girls in developing countries.
3. Maternal Health
Many women benefit from improved care during pregnancy and childbirth. However, these benefits are not evenly distributed so that women die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth. In fact, most of these deaths can be prevented.
4. HIV
Three decades after the AIDS epidemic, many young women still bear the brunt of new HIV infections. According to WHO, there are still too many young women struggling to protect themselves and to get the HIV care they need.
5. Mental health
Evidence shows that women are more prone than men to experience anxiety, depression, and somatic complaints. Depression is the most common mental health problem for women.
