Joel Embiid could not finally be on the court in the All-Star, but that has not prevented his donation of $ 100,000 to the homeless of Philadelphia, an amount that corresponds exactly to his financial prize for being chosen to play the All-Star game. .
The Cameroonian pivot’s monetary contribution will go to various shelters in the city of the state of Pennsylvania, including Project HOME, Sunday Breakfast Mission and Youth Service INC. For Embiid, it is a way of giving back to the community how much it has contributed to him during his stay in Philadelphia.
“Many have been through such difficult times during the pandemic. I felt it was important to provide more support to individuals and families struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. I am continually grateful for all the support that Philadelphia and its fans have given me, not only in regards to the All-Stars, but also throughout my time in the league. I will continue to help as much as I can, ”he says.
His donation, which includes 15,000 meals for the homeless, 4,000 clothing items for homeless teens and adults, medical treatment with 1,000 coronavirus vaccines and a six-week summer camp, has been supported by the 76ers, who have announced that they will contribute another $ 100,000 to organizations that take care of the homeless.
