The start signal for a new era: All test drives from Friday to Sunday live on Sky Sport F1

Only a few more days and then the wait will be over for the numerous Austrian motorsport fans. The Formula 1® fans look excitedly to Bahrain when the Formula 1 stars step on the gas again. With the three-day test drives in Bahrain, preparations for the Formula 1® season enter the hot phase when the teams test their new Bolliden on the Bahrain International Circuit. With Sky, the fans don’t miss a thing, because at the start of Sky Sport F1, Sky shows every single kilometer and thus more of the test drives than any other channel before. Sky is there every day from 8:00 a.m. and shows a total of 24 hours live.

All sessions are commented by Sascha Roos and Oliver Zwartjes alternately. The commentators are accompanied by the Sky experts Ralf Schumacher and Timo Glock, who regularly give their assessments of the current state of the teams. Sky reporter Sandra Baumgartner reports live from the track on all three days and captures a wide variety of voices from drivers and team bosses. Numerous young racing drivers and motorsport journalists, who are connected during the tests, also have their say.

During the test drive lunch break on Friday from 12:00 noon, Sky will present the new channel in the one-hour Formula 1® show “Race on – your Formula 1 has a new home”. Moderated by Peter Hardenacke, the audience will then find out what awaits them on Austria’s first non-stop motorsport channel, how the first hours of the Formula 1® tests went and what sets the new cars of the Formula 1® season 2021 apart. The Sky experts Ralf Schumacher and Timo Glock are also there. There will also be various gear changes, including Sandra Baumgartner talking to Mick Schumacher about his first morning in the new vehicle. The Formula 1® show will be broadcast on both Sky Sport F1 and Sky Sport News and will be repeated for the first time in the evening at 5:00 p.m.

Sky Original “Race to Perfection” – Rare archive material in a seven-part documentary
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Formula 1® last year, Sky and Formula 1 implemented the seven-part documentary “Race to Perfection”, which will be broadcast on the new Sky Sport F1 channel from March 15th. The documentary takes a look behind the scenes of the past 70 years of motorsport to celebrate this milestone. From the start in 1950 to 2020, the series covers all of the Formula 1® dramas that have fascinated fans around the world for decades. From Fangio to Schumacher, from Senna to Hamilton – “Race to Perfection” tells the stories of the sport and the personalities in a new light, with rare archive material and many exclusive interviews with the biggest stars of the sport.

Sky will show one episode daily on Sky Sport F1 starting March 15th. In addition, all parts of the documentation are available on Sky Q and Sky X.

Only Sky will show all races in Austria from the 2021 season
Only on Sky can Austrian motorsport fans experience all 23 races up close in Formula 1. From the 2021 season onwards, Sky will be broadcast live every 23 Formula 1 weekends in Austria – from the first practice session to the race on Sunday. In addition, Sky shows all Formula 2 and Formula 3 sessions as well as all Porsche Supercup races live. For Sky Q customers, all races and selected qualifying sessions are also available in brilliant Ultra HD image quality and without commercial breaks during the race.

With Austria’s first non-stop motorsport channel “Sky Sport F1”, motorsport will get a new home on March 12th. On Sky Q, the Sky customer can enjoy the special Formula 1 TV experience in one place with numerous new and innovative functions such as the ‘What did I miss?’ Function. Austria’s first non-stop motorsports channel Sky Sport F1 runs on Sky Q on channel 201 and on Sky X on channel 225.
