In other seaside cities you usually cannot rent a lounger and the problem is less common, although there are exceptions. Kevin Caes of Lichttorenstrand Knokke-Heist, for example, is also confronted with the situation. “It’s strange,” he says, “that people in the supermarket or at the bakery are allowed to get a Coke and a sandwich to consume on our beach seats, but buying the same Coke from me is prohibited.” He hopes, just like Mayor Duméry, that there will be more clarity soon.
