BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) – No new confirmed cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 were reported on the Chinese mainland on Sunday, the National Health Commission said on Monday.
Nineteen new imported cases were reported on Sunday, the commission noted in its daily report.
No new suspected cases or new deaths linked to the disease have been recorded, according to the commission.
Nine COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital on Sunday after their recovery.
According to the report established Sunday at the end of the day, a total of 5,091 imported cases had been recorded on the mainland. Of these, 4,916 left the hospital after their recovery, and 175 remain hospitalized. No deaths were reported among the imported cases.
By the same day, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the mainland had reached 89,994. Among them, 183 were still hospitalized.
A total of 85,175 patients had been discharged from hospital after recovery, and 4,636 had died from the disease on the mainland.
As of Sunday, the mainland had one suspected case, and 4,379 close contacts remained under medical observation.
On the same day, 17 new asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland, all imported. Two asymptomatic cases were reclassified Sunday as confirmed cases.
A total of 242 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, including 241 from outside the mainland.
By late Sunday, 11,090 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 202 deaths, had been reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 48 cases in Macao SAR and 969 cases, including ten deaths, in Taiwan .
A total of 10,629 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong, 47 in Macau and 932 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospital after their recovery.
