Austria investigates batch of AstraZeneca vaccines after incident | NOW

As a precaution, Austrian authorities suspended vaccinations with a batch of AstraZeneca’s corona vaccines after one woman died and another became ill. This is reported by the Austrian Federal Office for Health Care Safety (BASG), which is investigating the incident, on Sunday.

A 49-year-old woman died of severe blood clotting disorders and a 35-year-old woman developed a pulmonary embolism but is recovering, BASG said. A pulmonary embolism is an acute lung disease caused by a dislodged blood clot. “There is currently no evidence of a causal relationship to the vaccination,” said BASG.
