“Quarantine, cohorts, bandages and hand sanitizer” became everyday words, the prime minister said.

Friday is one year since the first drastic measures against the corona pandemic were introduced in Norway.

– It has taken more time than we imagined. Now we are all tired of pandemics, restrictions and that we have to endure a little longer. But we have to. The infection is again increasing. Therefore, we are not done with strict measures yet, Solberg said.

She said there is still “a hilltop again” before we can return to more normal life again.

– As a society, we have shown our best side, said the Prime Minister, who said she is proud of the population who “have stood up for each other and not least for vulnerable groups.”

Like everyone else, she longs for “everyday life with hugs and social life”.

– We are together on this. And together we will get out of this, she said, pointing out that during the summer it is hoped that all adults will have been offered a vaccine.

Next week, the government has announced new measures after the infection has blossomed again.

On March 11 last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the disease a pandemic. On 12 March last year, the Prime Minister gave a speech that changed and defined the new framework for life in Norway:

“Today, the government comes up with the strongest and most intrusive measures we have had in Norway in peacetime.

The measures will have a major impact on our personal freedom.

These are measures that directly affect our everyday lives and how our social life works.
Now this is absolutely necessary. “, Solberg said almost a year ago.

– Let’s take the best with us. Let us thank each other for their efforts so far. Let’s go together. We are on our way back to everyday life with each other, the Prime Minister ended his speech on Sunday.
