Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon has responded to Manchester United legend Roy Keane’s passionate debate with Jamie Redknapp ahead of victory over Burnley last weekend.
Before their 4-0 win over the Clarets, Keane and Redknapp were caught up in a heated debate on Sky Sports about Jose Mourinho Players.
Keane stated that Mourinho’s team is filled with “so many average players” outside of top scorers Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Redknapp, however, replied: ‘Reguilon he’s as good a left-back as the ones in the country, so I think you were wrong.
Keane then goaded on his Sky colleague by replying: “Is that why Real Madrid let him go? Why did Real Madrid let him go? “
To which Redknapp replied, “Does that matter? Doesn’t the fact that Real Madrid let him go make him a good player? He’s a fantastic left back! “
Keane finally admitted that Reguilon, who cost £ 25 million last summer, was a decent player. However, Redknapp’s anger caused the clip to go viral.
Reguilon later reacted on Twitter by showing the video along with a GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn from his famous Thriller music video.
But now the left-back broke his silence in line and responded to Keane’s comments.
“This is Roy Keane’s opinion, but we have a lot of top-tier players who can play on all teams,” he said.
“We have the best players, but thank you Jamie for standing up for me.
“It was a lot of fun, I was really mad. I saw it and smiled a lot, it was very nice «.

Mourinho has his own opinion
Tottenham manager José Mourinho had his own response earlier this week, saying: “I have great respect for Roy.
“I love working with him when he was at Sky, but regardless of that, a winner like him, I have a lot of respect for Roy and his work as an expert.
“But I am not going to comment.
“Of course Reggy comes from a very technical football culture. He was born and made into a winning club, a club that is always playing to win.
“Where since you are a child you are educated in that direction. He advances, he is fast, he is creative, he attends, he is enthusiastic.
“But the first season in the Premier League is usually not easy for a certain type of player. I am very happy with him ”.
Reguilon has five assists to his name in 22 appearances with the Spurs this season. He’s set to return to the starting lineup against Crystal Palace on Sunday night.
