Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Lightweight fighter Islam Makhachev hope to duel with Tony Ferguson in the next duel after defeating Drew Dober via submission in round 3 at UFC 259 in Las Vegas, Sunday (7/3).
Islam Makhachev has a neat record by recording 7 consecutive wins at the UFC after beating Dober.
In the duel, Islam invited many to try to take down Dober. Since he realized, it was hard to fight Dober in a standing style.
In every round, Islam always tries to overthrow Dober. The take down attempt was successful in round 3 which ended with the arm triangle choke being locked when the duel lasted for 1 minute 37 seconds.
After recording 7 consecutive wins at UFC, Islam, who is considered the successor of Khabib Numagomedov at UFC, hopes to face Tony Ferguson or a fighter in the top 5 in the lightweight class at this time.
“Years ago, I deserved someone from [peringkat] the top five, “said Islam Makhachev in an interview after the fight on UFC Twitter.
“Now I can’t stand still. Seven consecutive wins now, please I need a tough man. Tony Ferguson, please, I’m ready,” added Islam.
Currently Islam Makhachev is ranked 14th in the UFC lightweight class. The win over Drew Dober is the second by submission in 7 consecutive wins.
Previously, the 29-year-old also defeated Kajan Johnson at UFC on FOX in July 2018 with an armbar in round 1. Islam won four other fights with points.
“I will be ready with anyone,” Islam Makhachev said.
