“Care Affair” in the Konstanz Theater on International Women’s Day: Singener Wochenblatt

Konstanz. In its first season under artistic director Karin Becker, the Konstanzer Theater is taking International Women’s Day on March 8th as an opportunity to establish a festival in the city that uses various formats to focus on social issues and / or visionary answers. Due to the pandemic, however, it is switching to the digital space and offers a diverse and free festival program for everyone.

In the first edition of the festival, the focus is on female artists. The assigned gender roles in our society influence how women artists can express themselves, how their art is perceived and how they exist professionally. The artistic work of women is often opposed to restrictive cultural ideas, family constraints, social conventions and economic interests. Could everything also be different? LET’S ALLY searches for utopias, for visions, for solidarity with one another – in art and discourse. LET’S ALLY is the program: We want to inspire one another, engage with one another and, in any case, create alliances.

“Let’s ally!” will take place on Saturday, March 6th, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. as a stream on the theater’s website, followed by a live debriefing, free of charge

About the play “Care Affair” by women and fiction

The women and fiction collective invites you to a glamorous evening of the carers; to a celebration of caring figures beyond clear gender roles. From conversations with people who do care work professionally and / or privately, women and fiction, together with their accomplices, create sensual images of caring activities such as physical care, saying ‘no’, listening, being patient, nourishing, in short: taking care of yourself . They pose the attributes of security, solidarity and security in a glamorous costume show so hot that we realize again how fundamentally important they are.

In Care Affair women and fiction question why care is traditionally linked to the biological, childbearing body. They imagine caring communities beyond a capitalist exploitation logic and present real stories of success.
