Curfews are extended through March 30. The other corona measures are also postponed until the end of this month.
According to those involved, that is the outcome of the consultations in the Catshuis, where the ministers involved discussed the corona policy with RIVM boss Jaap van Dissel on Saturday afternoon.
The number of infections is still too high to announce easing at the press conference on Monday, according to an attendee.
Preventive testing policy
Last week, there were many hopes that the cabinet would see room for higher vocational education and universities to reopen, whether or not limited and with a preventive testing policy, in addition to secondary schools.
However, the cabinet does not dare to do that yet. The same goes for the reopening of the terraces and the retail trade. The cabinet will look at what is possible for these sectors in three weeks’ time. For the retail trade, for example, this involves a different interpretation of shopping by appointment. I.
Instead of two customers per floor, the number of square meters would then be considered – the larger the store, the more customers are allowed in at the same time. For the reopening of the terraces, the cabinet is asking advice from the Outbreak Management Team, which is not expected, however, in the coming week.
Expansion of outdoor sports
The cabinet is also looking at expanding outdoor sports for adults. They would be able to exercise outside in groups again in three weeks, as long as they keep their distance from each other. Until now, outdoor sports as a team is only allowed up to the age of 27.
