Luz María Morales was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2019, just in the pink month, the month dedicated to the fights this cancer with a mortality rate of 17.19 deaths for every 100,000 women in Mexico.
Her situation led her to a deep depression from where only her family, the passion for pastry that she practices in her business “Indrany Cupcakes Home“and a pink wig that simulated the hair she had before cancer, they pulled it off.
“It was a very difficult season, I was diagnosed in October, in January they operated on me I couldn’t work because of the surgery and then the pandemic began, it became very complicated because we could no longer open our business, “he recalled.
Used baking as occupational therapy
In a local conditioned in his own house, located on Los Magueyes street, in the José Vicente Villada neighborhood, Luz María, her husband and two daughters give their lives to create fondant cakes and cupcakes for hundreds of people.
Every day he gets up with the intention of improving his technique to create new designs and flavors, because this, “has been the best occupational therapy against depression“.
Despite the pandemic, the parties went from being 300 people to just 20 or 10, assures that its clients did not let it fall, because although the orders were no longer large, they remained constant.
“I did not get up, I was very sad, but my clients told me we need this, we need something else and to comply because I also needed the money and take care of myself.”
The same makes cupcakes, fondant cakes or chocolates, all personalized whether of cartoons, people, professions or trades. Due to the pandemic, it has had to innovate and enter social networks through the Facebook page “Indrany Cupcakes Home”, from where interested parties place orders.
