– Min Heon-ki, a former president’s main physician, passed away on the 6th. 93 years old. He was the person who commanded the surgery when Mrs. Yuk Young-soo was shot and collapsed in 1974 and retrieved the body of former President Park, who died on October 26 in 1979.
Born in Seoul in 1928, Professor Min graduated from Seoul National University Medical School in 51 and received a doctorate in medicine in 63. Later, while serving as a professor at Seoul National University’s medical school, he was appointed as the chief physician of former President Park for 70 years. The attending physician is an honorary, unpaid position that receives vice-minister-level courtesy under the protocol and is sometimes included as an official attendant when visiting overseas.
The deceased is called the living history of endocrinology. After being appointed as a full-time instructor at Seoul National University in 61, he has contributed to the development of the internal medicine department and the endocrinology department for over 30 years. He served as the head of the Department of Endocrine Internal Medicine of Seoul National University Hospital, the President of the Diabetes Association, the President of the Endocrinology Society, the President of the Internal Medicine Society, a standing advisor to the Cheil Hospital, and a senior member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology. In addition, he received the National Merit, Moran Medal, Dong-A Medical Culture Award, and 30 years of service at Seoul National University.
The survivors include his wife, Lee Woon-kyung, former chairman of internal medicine, Lee Woon-kyung, his son Min Kyung-jip, former LG Hausys CEO, and Gyeongju. Vinso was set up in Room 1 of the funeral hall of Seoul National University Hospital.
