PIOMBINO — From March 5th, the Piombino Clinic has activated a complementary medicine clinic applied to obstetrics. An extra service for the women of the Etruscan Valleys.

As explained by the North West Tuscan Usl Company, complementary medicines do not replace traditional medicine, but rather integrate and complete it, allowing a broader vision of the person by recreating balance between body and mind. Traditional Chinese medicine, for example, being part of complementary medicines, takes into consideration the energy balance of the person; the use of some techniques, such as massage, heating or stimulation of certain points of the body, allow to prevent or treat energy imbalances.

Pregnancy, with its profound changes, represents one of the most delicate moments in a woman’s life. L’integrated obstetrics clinic with complementary medicine arises precisely from the possibility of granting pregnant women a dedicated space where it is possible to take care also, and not only, of that energy balance of the future mother who, inevitably, in a moment rich in renewal such as the expectation of a baby , it’s changing. Midwives will facilitate this process by using these techniques.

Through the harmonization of body and mind, through targeted treatments, the most common female discomforts during and after pregnancy will be managed: pregnancy nausea and vomiting, energy balance in pregnancy (I, II and III trimester), preparation at childbirth from the 38th week of pregnancy, puerperium and breastfeeding disorders and the treatment of scars after caesarean section. The Moxa, the Prune Flower Hammer, the application of small Pyonex or the Tuina massage will be the tools available to midwives to restore balance in this very important moment for a woman. It will also be possible to carry out the “turning of the breech presentation with moxibustion” from 32nd to “36+6” week of gestation.

“The activity of complementary medicines – explained the company manager of the Midwives Cinzia Luzi – is the result of a structured company path and will be offered by professional midwives with ad hoc training gained with years of experience in the field also in the realities of the regional reference structure for complementary medicines in Florence. This service will complete the assistance offer of the Birth Path in the territory of the Etruscan Valleys already previously enriched in 2019 by the establishment of thelow-risk pregnancy clinic managed in complete autonomy by the midwives”.

“The activation of the complementary medicine clinic applied to obstetrics – underlined the director of the department of nursing and midwifery professions Mirco Gregorini – it is an important initiative, which enriches the offer of services that midwives make available to women in the Etruscan Valleys, thanks to their proven and consolidated professionalism and a continuous search for new frontiers to be explored and made to be explored “.

The service can be accessed by calling 0565 67688 on Fridays from 1pm to 2pm, where all the information relating to the service will be provided and where it will be possible to book the first visit. Subsequent accesses will be booked directly by the midwives. Women must present themselves to the appointment with a medical request and a certificate of physiological pregnancy.
