The Oculus Quest 2 headset has become the most popular device among gamers. Reedus

The Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset was released only in October, however, according to the February review equipment, the device quickly became a favorite with computer gamers.

Turning to Steam’s hardware review for February, it’s clear that the Oculus Quest 2 headset knocked the Rift S off the podium.

Oculus Quest 2 accounts for 22.91% of active users, compared with 16% and 13% for Valve Index and HTC Vive, respectively. Together, Oculus headsets make up over half of the devices used by gamers on SteamVR.

Despite the relatively low price tag, the headset is in a completely different league from previous generations: the performance in games like Half-Life: Alyx is on par with much more expensive headsets like Valve’s Index.

The Oculus Quest 2 can also be used without being tied to a computer or smartphone thanks to the rather impressive graphics chip inside – which means you don’t have to own a state-of-the-art computer to play.

An update is expected in March that will increase the refresh rate of the headset from 90 Hz to 120 Hz, according to the publication’s research PCGamesNThis is higher than the more expensive HTC Vive Cosmos. However, a good modern graphics card is already required to achieve this updated refresh rate.

Last October, when the headset was first released, the social network Facebook notedthat the devices are selling beyond all imaginable expectations. The launch of Quest 2 was 250 percent more successful than the original Quest in terms of players. The headset with a resolution of 1832 x 1920 and 6 GB of RAM weighs just 503 grams.
