Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has revealed that some have described him as a “Nazi” after he did not agree with the way in which Mesut Ozil announced his retirement from international football for the German national team.
“After the 2018 World Cup I said that I did not like the way Ozil announced his retirement from playing internationally, and because of that, I was a Nazi to some people,” Cross said in an interview on fighting cyberbullying.
“Blond hair and blue eyes, that’s fine for a lot of people,” he added.
“I sought to bypass this, anyone can hide behind a fake account and attack people without problems,” he said.
He concluded, describing the negative comments, saying, “I reached a completely different dimension.”
Ozil announced his retirement from international football after the 2018 World Cup, due to what he considered “racism” about his person from the German Football Association.
Kroos, 31, has played 101 caps and scored 17 goals for the Nacional Manschaft.
