ISL first quarter semi; Mumbai and Goa split by two runs

Fatorda: FC Goa drew with Mumbai City in the first quarter semi-final of the ISL today. Both teams scored two goals each.

The winning team in the second quarter on March 8 will advance to the final.

Goa took the lead in the 20th minute through a penalty. Mander Rao Desai was penalized in the 19th minute for dropping George Ortiz in the box. Ego Angolo took the lead for Goa.

In the 38th minute, Hugo Bomas scored for Mumbai. Bomas’ shot from outside the box went into the net without giving any chance to Dheeraj Singh.

Goa took the lead again in the 59th minute through Xavier Gamma. Gamma, who got the ball from the left in midfield, overtook the Mumbai defenders and single-handedly headed the ball into the net with a shot from outside the box.

Within three minutes of the goal (62), Mumbai found the back of the net through Murtata Fall. The goal came from a free kick taken by Ahmed Jahu. Goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh could only watch the ball fall into the box and into the net.
