Although the desire and need for income security is clearly recognized, the supposedly high costs and mistrust of physically employed workers often prevent the decisive step in security. This is shown by a current study by Sirius Campus on behalf of Basler Insurance. But the corona pandemic also has an impact.
–
38 percent of those surveyed who do a lot of physical activity rate income security as very important. When assessing their own risk, the respondents estimated the probability of occupational disability on average at 24 percent, in the case of complete disability the average assessment is also quite high at 20 percent. It is all the more remarkable that none of the respondents has a security for their own income.

This was the result of a representative study carried out by Sirius Campus on behalf of Basler Versicherungen on the income security of physically employed people. 1,000 employees were surveyed.
Too expensive, lack of information and distrust
The most common obstacles preventing people from taking out income protection are excessively high costs for protection (36 percent) and the feeling of not knowing enough about insurance against loss of earnings (35 percent). Another big problem for taking out insurance is a lack of trust among respondents.
The corona pandemic is both a driver and an obstacle. Almost half of the participants thought about their own security in response to the current state of emergency. The proportion of younger people is significantly higher than that of older people. Others cite the corona crisis as a reason for not being able to take care of the protection yet.
