Like Neil Young at Hipgnosis Songs Fund or Bob Dylan at Universal Music Group, the member of Crosby, Stills & Nash decided to sell his catalog to Irving Azoff of the new company Iconic Artists Group for an amount that did not not yet communicated.
Already questioned in our pages last December, it is one of the major trends in the music industry in recent months. Between the pop-star Taylor Swift deciding to re-record his entire discography to recover the rights to his songs after the purchase of his catalog by the entrepreneur Scooter Braun, Bob Dylan reselling his for an amount estimated between 300 and 400 million dollars to Universal Music Group or Neil Young having shed 50% of its catalog for the benefit of the company Hipgnosis Soungs Fund for 150 million dollars, it is the turn of another sacred music monster to follow suit: David Crosby, member of the Byrds , by Crosby, Stills & Nash (sometimes joined by Neil Young).
If the amount of the transaction between David Crosby and the company founded by Irving Azoff, Iconic Artists Group, has not yet been communicated, the main party had already spoken in favor of this solution when Bob Dylan had paved the way in last december: “I can’t work … and streaming has robbed me of the recording money … I have a family and a mortgage and I have to take care of it, so that’s my only option … I’m sure others think the same ”.
I am selling mine also …I can’t work …and streaming stole my record money …I have a family and a mortgage and I have to take care of them so it’s my only option ..I’m sure the others feel the same https://t.co/EXWHR2v6iq

A blessing
The agreement signed between the company of renowned Irving Azoff and David Crosby includes the publishing rights and the rights to recorded music for the entire catalog. The deal therefore includes not only his solo work but also his musical career with The Byrds, Crosby & Nash, Crosby, Stills & Nash and, finally, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. In the press release accompanying this announcement Crosby states: “Given our current inability to work for a living, this agreement is a blessing for me and my family. And I sincerely think that [Iconic Artists Groupe] are the best people to do it. ”
For his part, Irving Azoff writes: “I know David as a friend and have admired him as a great artist since our early days at Geffen Roberts Management shortly after moving to Los Angeles. It is an exceptional moment to associate with David and his formidable catalog of music. He is one of the most prolific songwriters and artists in music and I am honored that he has made Iconic the steward of his enduring musical heritage. ”
