Nintendo Perhaps prepares us a nice surprise for this year. According to Bloomberg, the firm is indeed working on a new version of the Switch. If the concept would remain unchanged, the latter would be entitled to one or two little more things, like a new OLED screen provided by Samsung.
At the time of its announcement, many predicted a tragic fate, like that of the Wii U. The mockery was then numerous.
Among the main criticisms that were addressed to him, there was his technical sheet a little behind, or his catalog, often summarized (unfairly) to Breath to the Wild.
A new Switch coming soon?
Since then, the years have passed, and detractors of the Switch have ended up swallowing their venom. The figures speak for themselves. The small console is a real success. Sales are in good shape and, above all, its catalog continues to expand. So much so that it is even difficult to keep up with the pace of the outings.
A resounding success, therefore, and which should continue in the years to come, even with the arrival of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
Because the strength of the Switch is not to enter into direct confrontation with its competitors, and ultimately to pose more as a complementary product.
However, that does not mean that the recipe is perfect. The Switch may be a great gaming machine, but it still suffers from a few flaws. Defects that could be corrected with its new version. At least if we are to believe Bloomberg.

A 7-inch OLED screen?
In one of their latest articles, our colleagues say that Nintendo is in the process of refining a new version of its console, a version that would be equipped with a brand new screen.
The slab in question would be supplied by a manufacturer with certain know-how in the matter. Nintendo would indeed have stopped its choice on a panel developed by Samsung. There is more interesting still, because Bloomberg also gives information on the characteristics of this panel.
Larger than that present on board current models, it would thus reach 7 inches diagonally. Against 6.2 inches for the Switch and 5.5 inches for the Switch Lite. But above all, the screen would be of the OLED type and it should therefore be able to display more contrasted images and, we imagine, with finer colors. The definition would not change however and it would stick to HD.

An outing at the start of the school year?
Still according to the same source, mass production of this panel should start in June. The new Switch would therefore be presented this summer or at the start of the school year at the latest. Nintendo is said to have planned to produce one million units per month.
And after that ? Few details have leaked out, but some sources believe the new Nintendo Switch will be more powerful. It could thus be animated by an Exynos coupled to an AMD GPU, which would allow it at the same time to come out of 4K when placed on its dock.
Still, at this stage, these are only pure speculations, and we will therefore have to wait a little longer to find out if all these rumors are really true. One thing seems certain, however, now is not the best time to buy a Switch.
