So far, however, the Canadian has missed the world champion gene and has clearly lost the team duel against Sergio Perez in the past two years.

With Sebastian Vettel, Stroll now has a four-time world champion at his side and has to prove himself against him. But he believes in himself and what his father said: “You have to believe in it, otherwise I wouldn’t be here,” he clarifies.
“I just turned 22, so I still have a lot of time. It depends on a lot of things. You have to learn from mistakes, gain experience and prove yourself as a driver in order to be in the right car. All of this is important”, says Stroll.
With Aston Martin, he could soon have the right car, because the team wants to become world champions “in three to five years”.
For 2021, however, it will first be smaller rolls that one would like to bake – although the goals are quite ambitious. Third place in the constructors ‘standings and fifth place in the drivers’ standings is what Stroll is committed to. “That would be a great success. Last year we were fourth for some time. That shows that the potential is there if we can do it.”

For him, getting it done is also the key to a successful 2021 season. Stroll wants to continue learning and tackle the things in which he can improve. “I have areas in my head that I can better link together in order to get more out of myself,” says Stroll.
“Last year there was a lot of potential and great things,” he says, referring to the race in Turkey, where he took pole position and, according to his own words, could have won if he hadn’t damaged the underbody. “Sometimes you have to accept something like that.”
“Maybe Seb can bring something to the team, how he drives the car or adjusts the set-up. I can learn from that,” said Stroll. And who knows what result this will lead to in the future.
