JA Happ joins his new Twins team, after recovering from COVID-19

Eager to debut with his new club, JA Happ had to compose himself before making a single pitch.

The left-hander tested positive for COVID-19 as soon as he arrived at the Minnesota Twins’ preseason camp. And his schedule of activities was altered.

Happ passed sanitation protocols Tuesday and participated in group practices for the first time at the Fort Myers, Florida, camp. The rest of the Twins played a preseason game against the Atlanta Braves in North Port.

The Braves won 6-0 in seven innings.

Happ, 38, left the New York Yankees and signed with the Twins in January for one season and $ 8 million. He had recognized that he was too eager to make up for lost time.

“I pushed myself a little bit,” he said, referring to the bullpen session.

Happ revealed that he has not recovered his senses of taste and smell, but assured that he feels good.
