WhatsApp is trying new features, and the latest is images. It looks like it will soon be possible to post self-destructing photos after a while in a thread. A practical function to keep a secret.
The WhatsApp app is being talked about a lot right now, but not necessarily for the right reasons. Indeed, it is above all its privacy policy that worries users. But Facebook has not stopped developing features so far. The next one could concern the security of the images. Indeed, WABetaInfo has noticed the arrival of a feature on the application: automatic destruction of visuals. When you share a photo, you don’t necessarily want it to stay in the discussion forever, knowing moreover that WhatsApp has the unfortunate tendency to offer to store media on the phones concerned.

With this new feature, an icon appears at the bottom left of the image before you share it. It is thus possible to activate a countdown so that it self-destructs automatically after being viewed. This new feature also makes it possible to remove the visual if a user leaves the current chat. More important again, it would be impossible to export it on your smartphone. An operation like Snapchat or Instragam Live which will allow to keep a certain security as for the shared content. The image will only be visible by clicking on it. The preview will not show anything, which will provide additional security. Last point to remember, the application would block screenshots, says WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp must regain the trust of users
For the moment, no deployment date for this feature, but she could arrive in the next few weeks via an update. Note that WhatsApp already offers a self-destruction system, but only for written messages. This addition would therefore make it possible to extend it to all media.
Note that WhatsApp is experiencing turmoil at the moment following the publication of the new terms of use, which are much more restrictive. As a result, users are looking for alternatives, like Telegram or Signal. This feature focuses on the protection of privacy, but not sure that it is sufficient to convince users scalded by the policy of the parent company Facebook.
