23 millimeters fell in one day, the same amount as the annual average for February. The climatologist Germán Poblete assured that the climatic conditions will improve from today.
The climatologist Germán Poblete said that Monday’s storm was the strongest in 7 years and that the intensity of the water will decrease as of today.
According to Poblete, this is due to the fact that the clouds suffered a process of “dehydration”, which will lead to no phenomena as intense as those registered between Saturday and Monday at dawn.
The professional indicated that this Monday the annual average for February fell by one day. “It was 23 millimeters in one day, this caused the cloud load to drop considerably so that in the next few days it will rain in a more localized way.”
“There have been a series of combos with a lot of precipitable water from the Amazon and Atlantic area. This humidity causes that when there are disturbances in height, cloudiness is formed and then precipitation ”, explained the climatologist.
According to the Poblete registry, Monday’s storm was the strongest recorded since February 2014. At that time there were three days of constant rainfall (on 13 it fell 19.3 mm and on 14 it was 42.8 mm) with a historical peak. 72.4 millimeters of water on the 15th.
Previous to that mark, the record was also in February, but from 1990. Poblete indicated that 53 millimeters of water fell that day in one day.
Climate improvement
The professional added that today it will rain in the morning hours and it will slow down for the afternoon with a maximum of approximately 28 degrees. Only on Thursday will the weather conditions improve with sunshine and a maximum temperature that will exceed 30 degrees, he added.
