WhatsApp is testing a new feature that automatically removes images in chats over time, according to Wednesday screenshots of the site WABetaInfo.
The screenshots show a new feature that allows a user to choose to have an image automatically removed after a certain period of time. If the sender chooses to do so, the recipient can only view a photo once, just like on Snapchat.
Also, it would not be possible for the recipient to save the image on his or her own phone. However, it is still possible to take a screenshot of the photo. It is not clear whether the sender will receive a warning. For the time being, the screenshots show no such report.
Whether and when the feature will actually be released is not known.
