LECCE – There are 208 social and health workers in all, so valuable during the management of the pandemic, who are in real risk of losing their jobs at the end of March. This is the date on which will expire their contracts and hospitals and health facilities risk being left without these professionals who do not know how and when they will be replaced.
The question, from a bureaucratic point of view, is complex. And the tension of workers and unions, concerned both for the maintenance of levels employment, both for the protection of citizens’ health, is cut into slices.
This was the atmosphere that reigned this morning in front of the headquarters of the general management of the Lecce ASL, in via Miglietta. The trade unionists of CGIL, CISL and UIL have in fact organized a a sit-in protest and requested a meeting with the director Rodolfo Rollo to unravel the problem.
The first and most urgent request, as explained by Antonio Tarantino of Fpl Uil, is that of an extension of the contracts: “The problem arises because some local health authorities have decided that they no longer want to renew their positions and to draw, instead, from the ranking of the competition of Foggia. But the question is more complex: on the one hand it is true that, in the presence of a valid ranking, it must be assumed from a competition, but before that competition, as happened in the ASL of Lecce, there were public notices from which the ASL drew , guaranteeing these people a renewable one-year contract “.
These workers, however, comments Tarantino, “risk staying on the street, despite having faced one with their bare hands pandemic and they are also infected “.
“The staff, however, can not even be replaced by drawing from the gradutoria because the ASL has indicated that the presence of a constraint on expenditure,” continued the secretary.
The colleague of Uil, Dario Cagnazzo, he recalled that the existence of a delegation report, dating back to two years ago, according to which those who enter the ASL have the right to stay 36 months plus 12, therefore 48 months in total.
“This report is still valid, because it came out before the pandemic – continued the trade unionist -, yet the directors of the ASL are behaving in another way, only because the Puglia Region has given directives that are not law. The Oss, who were called heroes and sent home in April, will not even enjoy the right to reach 36 months of service at the end of the year, as required by the milleproroghe decree ”.
Floriano Polymer, Fp Cgil secretary, said he was concerned about the management of the clinical outcome in patients: “The Oss are 208 precarious workers who work in the Intensive Care and Infectious Diseases wards: sending these figures home, without replacing them, will compromise the clinical outcome of patients. And in the middle of the pandemic this is not a luxury that we can afford: the extension of contracts therefore serves to respond to the need for health of all Apulian patients, not just Salento “.
