less 15% of turnover for the merchants of Le Mans

Less 15% of turnover for the merchants of the city center of Le Mans: this is the assessment that we drew up this Wednesday morning Philippe Garreau, the president of the association “I like the convenience store” at Le Mans. He was our guest live on France Bleu Maine. Traders who are suffering but others who are doing a little better all the same: food shops.

Textiles suffering but food businesses are doing well

Textile stores sold fewer items this winter, not only because of the health crisis but also because of canceled events and ceremonies. Obviously, there are fewer outings, fewer weddings, and the people of Sarth have spent less on clothing.

There is a drop in sales of more than 15% on sales, and the inhabitants of the small towns of Sarthe did not come to do their shopping at Le Mans.

There are also the brands that definitely lower the curtain. This is the case of the Maty jewelry store, which is closing its store in Le Mans. And for the costume jewelry Agatha, it is squarely the sign which is in liquidation.

On the other hand, there were no sales in the food shops, but the brands are working the best at the moment. Bakeries, butchers and delicatessens are recording good figures according to Philippe Garreau, the president of the association “I love local commerce” in Le Mans.
