The dispute erupted as early as 2019. At the time, representatives of VLSI Technology accused Intel of using their two chips-related patents without a license. Intel has denied it from the start, but the justice system has now shifted to VLSI Technology.

“We are pleased that the jury has recognized the value of our innovations, which is reflected in the patents in question. We are very satisfied with the court’s verdict, “said VLSI CEO Michael Stolarski.
–
A Texas federal court jury ruled that the damage caused to VLSI by violating the first patent was $ 1.5 billion ($ 32.5 billion) and for damaging the second patent was $ 675 million ($ 14.6 billion). This amounts to almost 2.18 billion dollars and 47.1 billion crowns, respectively.
–
However, Intel does not agree with the verdict. “We intend to appeal and we believe we will win,” Intel officials said in an official statement.
–
The entire patent dispute will thus have to be re-examined by the US judiciary.
