Health professionals in the Eastern Townships deplore not being able to be vaccinated against COVID-19, as the mass vaccination campaign begins among people aged 80 and over.

“I am very angry with the way we are being treated,” a nurse told TVA Nouvelles who asked to remain anonymous. “We do not have access to the vaccine when we were supposed to be in the second rank of the priority groups. They don’t respect the priority list. ”
According to the government’s list, hospital staff should indeed already be vaccinated since after vulnerable people in CHSLDs or in intermediate and family-type resources come workers from the health and social services network in contact with users.
The list goes on to people aged 80 and over, who can already make their appointment in Estrie.
“Of course, there is concern and also a lot of waiting,” said the president of the Union of nursing professionals of the Eastern Townships, Sophie Séguin. “We have been waiting for this vaccine for a long time, and our members have worked under conditions [difficiles], there are people who have had COVID-19. ”
This week, the 100,000 doses of vaccine available in Quebec were sent to Montreal, where many outbreaks are underway.
