Anne Hidalgo opposes weekend confinement in Paris. An “inhuman” measure ruled Monday the mayor of the capital who made several proposals in the hope of countering the proliferation of cases.
In particular, she wants the vaccination rate to be quadrupled, but also for the population to be able to ventilate. The mayor of Paris even proposed to the National Education “to allow teachers to teach outside whenever possible”.
School in the open air, among the trees, Grégory, father of a 9-year-old boy, finds the idea bright.
“It’s a good idea. It would allow a change of framework and that it can better pass at the level of education. And then there is the health issue too, it can be in better condition, ”he says.
So what about the students’ ability to concentrate? Hector is in primary school, he imagines his school days in a park very well. “We could play games and have fun. Mostly have fun, ”he says.
Have fun while learning of course. For her mother Marie, the idea of making class in parks and gardens is truly utopian.
“It could make you dream, but it does not seem at all realistic to us. Already in a period of fairly advanced vigipirate, we could put a full class outside. And then for somewhat classic subjects such as mathematics or French , the teacher still needs materials, a board, etc. ”, she assures us.
Not very useful from a health point of view
Indeed the vigipirate plan may be a brake on the implementation of the project according to the National Unitary Syndicate of Teachers. But doing class in a park is still quite achievable,
– according to Elisabeth Kutas, its departmental secretary in Paris.
“If you have to teach division, you can do it outside very well. But it takes time to think and it requires organization even if it is not necessarily material ”, she supports.
Achievable yes, but is it really useful from a health point of view? Not really for Bruno Megarbane, head of the intensive care unit at the Lariboisière hospital in Paris.
“It would suffice to open the windows wide and to ventilate the classrooms almost continuously. Keeping the measures wide open would have the same effect as going to a park,” he said.
Open the windows or perhaps focus on the playground to make class more feasible measures also envisaged by the mayor of Paris.
