The state of New York start testing an ID card for people vaccinated against Covid-19 and that they have tested negative for the coronavirus “to help speed up the reopening of theaters, stadiums and other businesses.”
The identification, which is both physical and digital, with the possibility of a mobile application, has been baptized as “Excelsior Pass“and was tested for the first time during the basketball game played by the Brooklyn Nets, on February 27 at the Barclays Center.
Governor Andrew Cuomo officially announced Tuesday the start of the program to test this pass that has been developed in cooperation with IBM.
It is a QR code that, when scanned, reveals whether the person carrying it has been vaccinated or has tested negative in the last 72 hours in a Covid-19 clinical analysis.

This health identification will be rehearsed in a meeting of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL) at Madison Square Garden, on March 2.
“As we begin to open the valves in different sectors of our economy, we are imposing guidelines to ensure that individuals who attend the events that a lot of people are concentrating on have tested negative for COVID-19 or have been vaccinated, with the objective to prevent an outbreak of the virus, “Cuomo said at a news conference.
The governor stressed that the more people are vaccinated, the sooner activities such as sporting events, music concerts, musicals or plays can be reopened, which are also and will be subject to special sanitary measures, such as the limit of the maximum capacity of spectators.
Cuomo announced today that 15.2% of New York State residents have received the first of two doses of the vaccine.
Today, ten million people are eligible to be inoculated in New York, where more than 19 million people live.
The application will guarantee the protection of the privacy of the users, according to a statement, and its use, for the moment, is voluntary.
