On the other hand, Qualcomm has announced the presence of Snapdragon X65 as the fourth generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution. Qualcomm claims the Snapdragon X65 is the world’s first 5G 10 Gigabit Modem-RF System and 3GPP Release 16.
Qualcomm said that the new modem is already in the sample use phase by a number of OEMs and is targeted to launch on commercial devices this year.
Snapdragon X65 itself is called Qualcomm’s biggest leap for 5G solutions since the commercialization of the first RF-modem system. This is because this modem is designed to support the fastest 5G speeds at this time and is already using the available spectrum.
Apart from the Snapdragon X65, Qualcomm also announced the Snapdragon X62 as a solution modem-to-antenna which is optimized for general use in applications mobile broadband.
“We achieved significant achievements with the Snapdragon X65, enabling connectivity speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second and supporting the latest 5G specifications which have an important role in the latest 5G use cases,” said President and CEO of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon, in an official statement received, Monday (15/2/2021).
According to Amon, the various use cases for the latest 5G are not only limited to use in premium smartphones, but also open up other possibilities for 5G expansion, such as mobile broadband, compute, XR, IoT for industry, private 5G networks, to wireless access.
