ALCALÁ DE HENARES / MARCH 1, 2021 / The City Council of Alcalá de Henares, through the Councils for Technological Innovation and Health, has launched “Young Line WhatsApp”, a new communication system with citizens, especially with the younger population, through the application WhatsApp, with the aim of solving any doubt, question or concern regarding addictions, as well as to ask for professional help and advice.

The Councilor for Health, Blanca Ibarra, explained that “for years, strategies for the prevention of toxic habits have focused on adolescents and young people, who have become critical ages to prevent future addictions.”
COVID-19 has also caused these consumption habits to worsen in isolated settings. “Young people are increasingly afraid to ask and resolve their doubts for fear of being stigmatized in public – adds the mayor of Health – we have to break that fear, and new technologies play a fundamental role to achieve this.”
With this new line of WhatsApp, cAny young Alcalaíno will be able to solve their doubts about toxic habits and substances from home and with total confidentiality. After the first contact, a short online form will allow your data and inquiries to be fully protected. On the other side of the line, professionals from the Center for Comprehensive Drug Dependence (CAID) of the Department of Health will respond to these concerns, and will recommend specific resources, training or face-to-face care if deemed necessary..
The concilor of Technological Innovation, Miguel Castillejo, for his part, points out that “to connect with young profiles, it was necessary to implement the communication tools that best fit their needs. Hence the WhatsApp channel is a quick and effective solution so that they can solve all their doubts through this Young Line ”.
Castillejo adds that “as it is an instant messaging application, the work carried out in terms of data protection and the request for a prior form of attention and explicit consent for the correct and safe use of the application has been very important and rigorous. by WhatsApp”.
The Councilor for Technological Innovation explained that “this initiative is part of one more action within the Digital Transformation Strategy under the Modernization and Innovation Plan, in which it is crucial to continue deepening new models of connection with citizens to provide a solution to their needs, as well as to the improvement and efficiency of public services.
