After the US has insisted on the release of 47 Hong Kong democratic activists, China fired up to stop intervening in internal affairs.
On the 28th of last month, 47 Hong Kong democratic activists were charged with violating the National Security Law. After the security law came into force in July of last year, up to now, only 100 people have been arrested for violating the law.
On the 1st, US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln said through his Twitter “I urge their immediate release.”
“Political participation and freedom of expression should not be a crime,” he said. “The United States is with the people of Hong Kong.”
In response, China was struggling.
According to the Chinese newspaper network, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Won-bin said at a regular briefing that “the Hong Kong police arrested and prosecuted the suspects of overthrowing the state under the law is a legitimate law enforcement.”
“This is for the sake of national security and stabilization of job retention,” said Wang.
The prosecution included a large number of young Hong Kong democracy activists, including Sam Cheong, Leicester Shum, Ventus Lau, and Fergus Lung.
They are accused of organizing and promoting the democratization organization’Primary Election’ in July of last year.
