A fierce storm broke out in southeastern Cordoba late on Sunday afternoon and caused damage to the town of Monte Maíz, to the limit where the Unión department joins with the Marcos Juárez department.

According to the Multimedios Maldoni portal, The abundant amount of water generated flooding in the streets and even caused accidents on Route 11 and Route 3, which connects Monte Maíz with Colonia Bismark. While local authorities called for extreme care to circulate through the flooded streets and the rain continued with less intensity during Sunday night, the electricity service remained suspended.

The head of Civil Defense of the Province, Diego Concha told La Nueva Mañana that at the moment there is no damage in other locations, although attention will remain on the development of storms in the area. There are “between ten and twelve people evacuated.”
