One of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent months is the cinema sector. Like synthetic courts, funeral homes and children’s events, this one is among the last to jumpstart its economy.
It should be noted that the movie theaters had been allowed to reopen since November 12 with a strict protocol. “The reopening of the cinemas occurs at a historically low date for the sector,” said Hansel Biedermann, in contact with the GEN channel.
He also highlighted that all the important premieres happened for 2021, so at this time its opening is not very attractive.

Among the highlights, he mentioned that people are already used to health protocols and for cinemas there is not much difference.
“I think that in recent months they have already gotten used to what sanitary measures are, such as taking temperature, hand washing and disinfection, in addition to social distancing, when entering the shopping you have all the sanitary measures. So what you do is get to the box office and maintain intelligent distance, it is already marked as in any other place, “said the businessman.
He indicated that once the person enters the room, they will find an usher who will tell them where to sit or what place is available.
“For the location, we are going to have a kind of chessboard for the places and maintain the social bubble. The system works in the following way, if you go with your family they all sit in the same place, there is no problem in distancing, but there will be a distance from other people and this will be in diagonal shapes so that are separated within the rooms, “he said.
At another point, he highlighted that the cinema sector had problems with the protocol from the beginning and added that the sector was highly stigmatized.
“If you go to the movie theater, massive contagion and things like that did not favor the sector, I think there are sectors that are more difficult to control, such as a gym or a supermarket itself, which were enabled much earlier,” he said.
He pointed out that since July or August they have had their protocol approved by the Ministry of Health, which established that the cinemas would be enabled in phase 4.
“The quarantine ended before moving on to phase 4, but anyway at the time we are enabled to operate again we were not ready yet to reopen,” he confirmed.
He stated that before the reopening they had to rehire their personnel, since in the last eight months they had to liquidate the workers.
“We had a total layoff at this time and you don’t know how difficult it is to sit down and tell a person that they are going to lose their job. It is traumatic for both parties, we had no choice, it was what we had to live, “he concluded.
