In Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, the Communist Party has appointed its leader for the regional elections. This is Cécile Cukiermann, the current president
from the Communist-GRS group to the regional council. In addition, activists are now calling La France Insoumise to make a joint list.

According to an internal vote, 67% of them said they were in favor of a union list from the first round, we learned this Sunday from the PCF. A list which could be “open to the social movement, and to other political forces of social transformation”.

Laurent Wauquiez has not yet formalized his candidacy

The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region is currently chaired by Laurent Wauquiez (LR). The latter has not yet announced that he will run again although there seems to be no doubt. A first poll, carried out in November, gave him the overall winner.

Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, strongly expected to represent the Socialist Party, has not announced her candidacy either, while LREM, the Greens, Modem and Debout la France have already appointed their representatives.
