“The future is now” is the theme of Black History Month. I had the opportunity to meet several African Americans, including Jackie Robinson and the famous Quebec pianist Oliver Jones. Today, I wanted to pay tribute to Quebeckers who play an important role in our society.

FAEQ Fellow, Katherine Surin received the bronze medal in the 400m event at the ACNW African Association Championships in South Africa in March 2020 and at the Canadian Championships in July 2019. Just like her father, Bruny Surin , she hopes to win a medal at the next Olympics.

Lieutenant Alberto Syllion, a former rapper of Haitian origin known under the pseudonym Spook, has been a firefighter with the Montreal Fire Department since 2008. He currently works at fire station 17.
