The price of the dollar continued to rise during last week’s trading, against the pound, after it rose by one penny the previous week.
Yesterday, Thursday, the price of the dollar against the pound recorded 15.63 pounds for purchase and 15.73 pounds for sale, compared to 15.59 pounds for purchase and 15.69 pounds for sale, according to National Bank data.
Within two weeks, the price of the dollar rose by about 5 piasters, according to National Bank data.
The exchange rate of the US currency had decreased by about 9 piasters in a month and a half, since the beginning of the new year 2021, before it rose again during the last two weeks.
The price of the dollar in the National Bank recorded on the first day of the new year 15.67 pounds for purchase and 15.77 pounds for sale.
The Central Bank of Egypt announced an increase in foreign exchange reserves last January by about $ 38.2 million compared to the end of December 2020.
The central bank said on its website last week that foreign exchange reserves reached 40.101 billion dollars by the end of January, compared to 40.063 billion dollars at the end of last December.
Foreign exchange reserves thus continued to rise for the eighth consecutive month during last January, after suffering a significant decrease in the first three months of the Corona crisis, which are March, April and May.
