Fertilization in citrus fruits during vegetative growth

Fertilization in citrus it is carried out to provide the essential nutritional elements for the development of the crop. To know the amount of nutrients that we must apply to our crop previously, we must know both the level of fertility or nutritional status of our soil, as well as the needs for extraction of nutrients by the crop in each phase of development.

In citrus, in general, we distinguish different stages or phases of development.

Vegetative growth phase which develops in two stages, the first during spring and coincides with the flowering phase, and the second in late summer or early autumn, when summer temperatures begin to decrease.

In this phase, the growth of the root also occurs, being of vital importance for the crop to have a healthy root, in continuous growth and renewal, for the absorption of fundamental nutrients in the development of the crop.

At this stage, and from the first spring irrigations, the technology ORIONVIA Mark the difference. We have carboxylic functional groups and natural extracts of phenolic compounds that provide better structure of the wet bulb, greater absorption of nutrients and activation of beneficial microbiology at the rhizosphere level.

If we take into account the importance of the interrelation between the nutrients we provide, as well as the efficiency of the type of fertilizer used, the recommendation for this growing stage is M100 .

In addition to the indicated technology, we provide Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium and Calcium in a balanced way throughout this growing phase.

Calcium is an element that is mobile by mass flow and is absorbed by new roots, therefore, in order for it to be absorbed and transported to the growing organs of the plant, it needs a constant contribution to the soil.

To improve rooting we recommend CARONTE-D in application by irrigation at 3 liters / Ha.

And to stimulate sprouting the recommendation is to apply SAVIAVIGOR in foliar treatment at 2 gr / liter.

In the next blog post we will continue talking about flowering and fruit set.
