Fatal coincidence the same morning in NY

An 81-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy died at about the same time yesterday, run over by school buses on Long Island and Brooklyn.
First, around 8 a.m., the elderly woman was fatally struck while trying to cross Nassau Road near Weidner Avenue in Oceanside. The unidentified woman She was rushed to a hospital with a traumatic head injury, where she was pronounced dead shortly after. The school bus driver remained at the scene, reported Pix11.
Just a few minutes later, before 8:30 am, a 6 year old boy was found by an MTA driver, who saw it lying on South 5th St near Hooper St, in Brooklyn (NYC).
The police determined that he had been hit by the school bus that was about to board with his brother, but the driver did not see him and continued on.
Later the deceased minor was identified as Shimon Fried, member of the orthodox jewish community en South Williamsburg.
“Preliminary, we believe the driver did not know he had hit the child,” said Sgt. Robert Denig of the NYPD Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad. The bus driver was detained and questioned.
