En August 2018, an email from Christophe Henrotay was sent to Chelsea manager Robert Hamblin, with Thibaut Courtois’ father, Thierry, who works for the agent, in copy. In this document, Henrotay asks Chelsea to no longer pay Thibaut Courtois’ foreign image rights to the Luxembourg company, Global Image SA and this “because of the HRMC investigation”, namely the British tax authorities. . There is a lot of money at stake: no less than 960,000 pounds (1.1 million euros) of image rights for the 2017/2018 season, a sum partly due by Chelsea and partly by the equipment manufacturer American Nike.
